Vegan Quesadilla: A Mexican Delight Completely Plant-Based

Quesadilla Rezept Vegan

What is a quesadilla?

A quesadilla, pronounced [kesaˈdija] , is a traditional Mexican dish that is basically a stuffed tortilla. The word "quesadilla" comes from the Spanish word "queso" (cheese). There is no direct translation in English, but you could call it a "cheese tortilla."

How do you eat quesadillas?

Quesadillas are typically served warm after being fried or grilled. They can be eaten as a main dish, appetizer or snack. They are often cut into pieces and served with various dips such as guacamole, salsa or vegan sour cream.

Quesadilla vs. Burrito: What's the Difference?

Although both dishes are based on tortillas, there are some important differences:
  • The shape: Quesadillas are usually crescent-shaped, while burritos are rolled and closed at the ends.
  • Filling: Quesadillas usually have a thinner filling that consists mainly of cheese (or, in vegan versions, a plant-based cheese substitute). Burritos, on the other hand, are often filled with rice, beans, vegetables and other ingredients.
  • Preparation: Quesadillas are often fried or grilled, while burritos are usually not heated after being filled.
