Michelada Cubana: Mexico's refreshing beer cocktail
What is a Michelada Cubana?
In Mexico, beer is not just a drink, but a tradition associated with conviviality, celebrations and, of course, delicious beer cocktails such as the famous Michelada Cubana. This refreshing mix of beer, juice, Clamato and spices is a true taste experience and the perfect choice for hot days or convivial evenings. Today I would like to introduce you to a special vegan version that is made with tomato juice instead of the non-vegan Clamato and brings you closer to the authentic taste of Mexico. Instead of lime, I also like to use Chamoy for the rim of the glass.
Michelada vs. Cubana
The Cubana is a variation of the Michelada that contains Tabasco sauce and Worcestershire sauce in addition to the usual ingredients. It is known for its spiciness and invigorating effect.
Michelada vs. Chelada
While the Michelada is made with juice and spices, the Chelada is a simpler version that only contains beer and lime juice.
Michelada vs. Bloody Mary
Although both are considered spicy cocktails, the Michelada and the Bloody Mary differ significantly in their main ingredients. While the Michelada is beer-based, the Bloody Mary is made with vodka and tomato juice.
